Welcome to Y Groesfan

Y Groesfan [uh GROYSS-van] translates from Welsh as the meeting point or crossroads.

We are a small church based in the heart of St Davids City, Pembrokeshire, with a congregation of residents from across the wider St Davids Peninsula and regular visitors from further afield. We are affiliated to the Baptist Union of Wales although members of our church come from all walks of the Christian community.

Our Story

Y Groesfan officially began in 2008 following a group of Christians meeting in a café in St Davids on Sunday evenings. They met to worship and pray together for St Davids and the wider peninsula, with initial short-term support from Broad Haven Baptist Church. The group sought God's wisdom and direction in order to come together as a Church with a shared vision to see people's lives positively transformed in St Davids through knowing Jesus.

Our church has met in members’ homes, community halls and outdoor spaces ever since.

Everyone who is a part of Y Groesfan is encouraged to find ways to support the existing churches and chapels of St Davids. We aim to show God’s grace within our families and work, and by participating in the life of the city and peninsula.

We also believe that praying for our City is the most powerful and effective thing we can do here:

'Seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you... and pray to the LORD on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare.'

Our Team 

Our leadership team includes Reverend Phill Vickery, his wife Maggie, Fiona Michael and Ali Wadia who together help to run Y Groesfan as volunteers, alongside the congregation each Sunday.

Our regular church members meet quarterly to discuss key decisions such as the church programme, mission giving, and community partnerships.

Our Faith and Values

Y Groesfan is a St Davids based community seeking to live out God’s Kingdom. We are a gathering of people following Jesus through the active guidance of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

We are a covenanted community; committed to God and each other. We are not perfect but rely on God’s grace to learn and grow as a church family. We regularly practice hospitality, sharing food and fellowship together.

Y Groesfan welcomes everybody regardless of who they are and whether they are just visiting or looking for a new church. We pray that their time with us will be a blessing for us all.
